Bloomington Schools offers a wide array of services for students who are eligible under the special education category of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Programs are based on student need as determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team. Services can include a combination of classroom and home-based services, or may be provided in an integrated preschool setting. Other students receive services in a small-group special education setting with or without typically developing peer integration. Some students receive indirect or itinerant services while participating in community-based preschool or childcare programs.
Bloomington's ASD programs incorporate a multi-faceted approach, implementing teaching strategies from the latest autism research. Services can include speech/language therapy, motor therapy, sensory integration, and social skills instruction. Our services are very wide-ranging and based upon the child's individual needs.
