Bloomington Public Schools Early Learning Services will celebrate Children’s Book Day, also known as El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros, from 10 a.m. – Noon Saturday, April 29 at Pond Family Center, 9600 3rd
“Día” is an annual celebration that aims to connect children with diverse books and programming opportunities. The event is free and open to families in Bloomington and surrounding communities with children 5 years of age and younger.
Día focuses on recognizing and respecting culture, heritage and language as tools for strengthening families and communities; nurturing literacy development to embrace a child’s home language and culture; and introducing families to community resources that provide opportunities for learning.
This year’s Día event will highlight Screen at Three, an initiative to screen children following their third birthday to ensure they are developmentally on track and their families are connected to needed resources.
Bloomington Public Schools Early Learning Services provides early childhood screening, parent education, and preschool classes for over 2,000 Bloomington residents. Learn more at bloomingtonschools.org/early-learning-services
